Sandbox Content
By @Mr.Nobody
Sandbox content is player-generated gameplay (like open-world pvp) insted of developper generated content (like linear quests). Sandbox content adds replayability to the game. This topic is to keep an overview of all ideas that contribute to sandbox content, to make sure the game is free/open/replayable enough to not get boring.
- Quests generated by players: Every profession needs materials, players looking for those materials post want-to-buy orders in the auction house and that way generate quests for other players. Healthy Economy in MMO-RPGs: Professions, Auction House and Questing.
- Abandoned areas spawn more and rarer materials: This will encourage player exploration, and will make players fight over areas that spawned those materials (before they run out). Making materials take time to be farmed will also help with this. [to do topic].
- Player generated reputation system with custom tags. The custom tags allow players to create "factions" based on whatever they like. Players can create a tag #horde/alliance and rank players as either one or another. And then players can vote to instruct their city guards to be hostile/friendly to those player-created tags. This opens up endless possibilities like cities reserved to female players or players from a certain country or even things like xbox vs playstation. Player-driven Reputation System: How and why
- [draft] Rumor system: Allow rumors to spread on the server and be talked about by NPC's in taverns. A system in which players can send each-other coordinates for locations or news in the world and, as they share it between themselves, the most shared news gets talked about in chat bubbles by NPC's in taverns. [to do]
- [draft] Allow certain structures in the world to be conquered by guilds. Needs further discussion (what advantages for the guild? what keeps one guild/collusion to conquer all places? etc).
