How to encourage Balance between Races?

Most people pick Human characters in MMO's, why?
It would be nice to find ways to make other races more attractive to players.

@Mr.NobodyOne opinion seems to be that many players stay away from other races because they look ugly. Plain and simple. Players don't want to play an ugly character.
Maybe more players would pick Dwarves if they could look like this:
(PS: could not find a cool+sexy male dwarf)
